Steve Dale

Steve Dale is a certified animal behavior consultant, author, radio host and animal advocate. He is the host of two nationally syndicated radio shows, Steve Dale’s Pet World and The Pet Minute, (available on over 100 radio stations) and host to Steve Dale’s Pet World, which has aired on WGN Radio Chicago for over 25 years. 

Steve has contributed to and authored numerous books on pet behavior, including Decoding Your Dog and Decoding Your Cat, both authored by board-certified American College of Veterinary Behaviorists. Steve authored the ebooks, Good Dog! and Good Cat!, and was a syndicated newspaper columnist. His contributions also include, The Cat: Clinical Medicine and Management, and Treatment and Care of the Geriatric Veterinary Patient among others. 

Steve has appeared on Oprah, Good Morning America, National Geographic Explorer, various Animal Planet shows and many others. You can regularly find him on the syndicated HouseSmarts TV.

Steve is a contributing editor for CATster, writes a regular column for the Journal of National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America, and DVM 360, where he also serves on the Editorial Advisory Board. 

In addition to serving on the board of the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, Steve serves on the board of EveryCat Health Foundation (formerly Winn Feline) and the Human Animal Bond Association.

He is-certified Fear Free and speaks on Fear Free and Cat Friendly Practices.

Steve received the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Humane Award (2002), the AVMA Steve Dale Excellence in Media Award (2020) and numerous others and is in the Dog Writers’ Hall of Fame.
