Laura Eirmann, DVM, DACVIM

Dr. Eirmann received her veterinary degree from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and completed a surgical and medical internship at the Animal Medical Center in NYC. She returned to Cornell as a clinical instructor in the Community Practice Service seeing patients and teaching fourth year veterinary students various aspects of primary care including nutrition.

In 1997 Dr. Eirmann moved back home to northern NJ and began practicing at the Oradell Animal Hospital, a large general, specialty, and emergency practice. As a primary care veterinarian at Oradell her interest in nutrition grew leading to an opportunity to join Purina as a technical service veterinarian while continuing to practice at Oradell. During her 23 years at Purina, Dr. Eirmann learned from food scientists, molecular biologists, immunologists, and nutritionists and decided to pursue a clinical nutrition residency. During her residency, she studied markers of inflammation in overweight and obese dogs.

Dr. Eirmann became a board certified veterinary nutritionist® in 2010 and started the clinical nutrition service at the Oradell Animal Hospital. She has published several articles and book chapters in the field of nutrition and lectures on the topic of nutrition to veterinary students, veterinarians, and pet owners. However, her passion is helping families provide optimal nutrition for their pets. She enjoys the collaborative nature of nutrition working with her colleagues at Oradell and pet parents. One of her favorite and most rewarding services is the clinical weight management program for Oradell patients.
